Man killed outside Signal Hill strip club

A 28-year old from Long Beach California has been identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner's office.

Ferando Mendez Jr. was shot and killed outside the Fantasy Castle strip club at about 2 a.m. according to authorities.

Officers on the case said Mendez was standing in the parking lot when another man approached him and opened fire.

Two women nearby were also wounded by the gunfire, authorities said. Paramedics took the women to a local hospital where they were in stable condition Tuesday, the sheriff's department said.

This is the second shooting in less than a year at the Fantasy Castle, which is in the 2800 block of Walnut Avenue.

On Oct. 11, as the club was closing around 2 a.m., someone began shooting, police said at the time.

The gunfire wounded two people, and a third person was hurt by a car speeding away, according to authorities.

All the injuries were minor, police said.
