A Portland strip club patron was arrested after witnesses said he ranted about a racist DJ, and brandished a gun in the club's parking lot and fired at least nine shots.
According to a bouncer of the Mystic Gentlemen's Club Daniel Frank yelled "You going to go gangster on me?"before he began squeezing off rounds into the night sky Wednesday, court records allege. "Do you want to die?"
The incident first reported by The Portland Mercury, began just before 9:30 p.m. when employees of the Southeast Stark Street establishment noticed Frank, 31, acting oddly around the dancers.
"Like he was tweaking or something," reads a probable cause affidavit.
Frank later stepped outside to smoke a cigarette but was stopped from re-entering the strip club when the bouncer noticed he had a gun in his waistband, court records show.
The bouncer told Frank he had to leave.
Frank told the bouncer he worked with a bigot.
"That DJ is racist to me because I am white!" Frank said, witnesses told police.
Then: "I don't have my debit card!"
The bouncer went back into the club and retrieved the debit card, according to the affidavit. Frank took his card, threatened the bouncer then started shooting before he took off.
Cops recovered nine 9mm bullet casings from the scene, court records show.
Police said they eventually tracked down Frank and found the gun. When an officer asked him about what happened at the strip club, the suspect grew enraged.
"Do you want to die?" Frank screamed at the officer, according to court records.
Frank was booked Thursday in the Multnomah County jail on suspicion of felony use of a weapon. He was released the same day.
