The service was great, the food was great, the music and video was great, and the art was great. If there was one thing I could fix: the music was just a tad on the loud side (Tuesday night) which made it more difficult to have a conversation with my friends/family.
Service and atmosphere were spot on, but I wasn't blown away by the food.Duck wings were tasty, but a bit soggy.Corn bread sounded amazing, but was just "okay."French onion soup was decent. Short ribs were pretty tasty and tender, so plus for that.Worthy of a second visit, to be sure, but I'll obviously check out other things on the menu.
Went for brunch was amazed!!! Bloody Maria was spot on. Entire drink menu looked tasty. Food was SO GOOD. Very fresh and inspired. Had the BBQ pork benedict. Pork was tender and the sauce was perfect with the eggs and cornbread. Guitar player was not too loud and the people were super nice. Will definitely be putting Ophelia's into rotation!!
Went to see Haunted Windchimes performance. They were Great as usual. Luckily had reserved a table. Neat old stone walls and nice design to venue. Not best venue for old folks. Loud, noisy, warmup group started late at 930 and HW finished at midnite. Good venue for milleneals.
Have eaten dinner here before, it's great! Went this time for an 80's show, pretty wild and funny, good times for sure. Ambiance is amazing. Funky, out there, achieves what it's trying to do. What a fun place! Can't wait to go back for dinner and drinks!
I came here with my husband for his birthday and it was great! We came before the music started so it wasn't to loud but I can see it getting very loud. We got a cute little table but be aware there are tables where two people would sit side by side, which I would hate.The food was amazing. I got the Stone Fruit flatbread which had pesto, cherries peach's, balsamic and a few other things. I would have never put these ingredients together but it was fantastic, I ate the whole thing. My husband got the Brother Burger, I didn't taste it but he said it was really juice and good flavor. Since it was my husbands birthday the waiter brought out a complimentary chocolate mousse with a candle. It was really cute and thoughtful (always delicious). They have a great beer and wine selection. We can't wait to come back!
It's okay. Linger and Root Down blow this place out of the water food wise. We got four different dishes and just weren't very impressed on any of them. They weren't bad, just not that great. A couple were a little to far out there for our liking but were still creative and different. The room itself is gorgeous. Super neat seating and stage area. The bench four tops are a little awkward and uncomfortable. I won't return again for the food (I'd rather spend a tiny bit more and hit Linger) but may return for a couple expensive cocktails and a show.
This place is AWESOME! Went their for brunch a few Sundays back and am now, waaaaaay after the fact writing a review. The menu was creative and perfectly executed. The ambiance was just spot on. Just fantastic place. One of the best dining experiences I've had in Denver!
Went in last Saturday for an early dinner. We had reservations for 4 people total. Upon arriving we gave them our name and we were sat at our table. The place is really neat! The stage, the lighting, pretty much every thing in there is pretty cool. We were very excited to eat and try out some of their drinks. As we were sat, we were greeted by a young waiter, he was kind enough to explain the type of food served at the restaurant etc....well, all of a sudden, a women stood right (literally) right next to me, borderline over my head and just gawked at the waiter as he was speaking...she then rudely interrupted him and told us "We are expecting a really big party where you are seating, so you have until 7:30 to finish!!!!" I was just blown AWAY with her rudeness and attitude! That really soured the rest of the night for us. Drinks/Food do take a while to make, so obviously we felt very rushed to get out for the other party. I would understand accidentally double booking etc...but the way she approached us was soooo unprofessional! We will never go again!
Food was amazing and the service was even better and the location and venue is awesome... really recommend.
I take all of my out of town guests here and it NEVER disappoints. The coolest of the cool vibes and a staff that knows their stuff. It has an amazing happy hour to boot.
Came in for my boyfriends birthday, he picked and we were super excited to check this place out. The layout is super cool, we had a reservation and was sat pretting quickly. Waitress doesn't come by with water or menus for almost 15 minutes. Ordered the duck wings, very good, the arepas with plantains were terrible and very bland. My boyfriend got the chicken and waffles which was pretty good and the butterscotch pudding which was wonderful. It took ages to be served and the food to come out. I'm not sure if it's a kitchen problem or waitress understaffed or what but I was super disappointed overall.
What can I say, other than this place rocks. Been for both dinner and drinks as well as brunch, and you can't go wrong with either. Today for brunch I started with the sticky bun and bottomless mimosas, and ended with the monte cristo and bottomless mimosas. I'd order it all again.
I love this place. Ambiance is great if you're into a semi-remodeled brothel with pornographic imagery scattered throughout (really, who isn't?!) The food is excellent, although slightly overpriced - typical LoDo. Happy Hour is great if you can make it before 6pm - specialty cocktails are only $5 and they have several light bites also. It's a great venue for local musicians, and I've heard good things about football watch parties also. To quote The Lumineers, "O-o-phelia[s], you've been on my mind girl like a drug..."
We came here while visiting Denver from Chicago and had a wonderful dinner in a one-of-a-kind environment. The live music was great, service excellent, and everything we ordered was really really REALLY tasty. You can tell the chef here is top notch and really cares about the food served. They serve many vegetarian and gluten free options, and several dishes can be made vegan. Definitely try the corn bread, shishito and cheese curd poppers, and the 600+ summer squash. Beet burger was perfect and the vindaloo ketchup had us all turning our heads in query and then going back for more. Definitely check this place out for a fun (not quiet) dinner with friends or loved ones!
I have to agree with Adam M.'s review...Booked a reservation well in advanced, had to sit outside in the scorching sun with sub-par service and no live music.Food was great and bottomless mimosas would have been fun had our server ever returned back to our table to refill our drinks or actually serve us our drinks/food. Pretty unfortunate for this place as the 4 of us were pretty turned off by the experience. If I do make it back, hopefully I can sit inside and be served.Props to the bus boys for trying to help our table out.
We finally went for dinner! It was as delicious as expected. I really do love this place.
I recently visited Ophelia's during their happy hour and then into the regular menu hours. The inside is great and and do love the set up of tables facing the stage. It's very dark inside even during the day time.There were four of us and we sat at the bar for cocktails and food. We sampled most all of the happy hour menu options. The food was just ok. I ordered a mushroom flat bread pizza that not only did not have ONE mushroom on it but was just flat bread and nothing else really. I mentioned it to the server after flagging someone down like 20 minutes later. The response I got was "yeah, there are mushrooms on there.." I asked her to please show me the mushrooms as none of us saw any. She didn't even look and just said, "I will have the kitchen make you another one!"It had been so much time at that point we just wanted dinner. Our dinner came and it was just meh.I would like to give it another shot but not for eating but rather a show. I just don't know that I was that overall impressed to give it another try.
I've heard great things about Ophelia's and after just moving was exciting to check it out. We had reservations, however, we still had to wait and were not able to get a table inside to listen to the live music :-(There were a ton of awesome sounding Brunch Items on the menu and I went with the Nacho Flatbread. This came with a Sunny-Side up Egg, Chorizo, Black Beans, Queso Fresco, Pico de Gallo and Poblano Cream and was outstanding.Our waitress didn't bring me my drink, they delivered our food to the wrong table, and our waitress never came to check on us, refill our water or even give us our check (All of which we had to ask the bus boy)Service here would get a D but the Food would get an A so I will be back and hopefully we get a different server next time and actually get to sit inside with our reservations.
This place is great! Extremely unique atmosphere, we sat in the front row of the balcony and enjoyed watching the band set up. Drinks were very good and our waitress helped guide us to the right selections. Food was excellent!! I highly recommend the arepas and mushroom pizza. Will definitely go back again!
The vibe at Ophelia's is eclectic but awesome-swanky couches for drinks, a fun area for concerts, and the mystique murals and erotica that dot the place. This place is seriously cool. I went with my friends on a sunday for dinner and I had a reservation, but it wasn't busy at all. I ordered the fried chicken, which was impressive, but not my favorite. Wish it had been a bit crispier. My friends, who both ordered the bison burger, loved their dishes. I stole a bite, and if I went back, it would definitely be for that dish. Plus the French fries were crispy and perfect. I ordered a drink as well (can't remember which one, but it had gin) and really enjoyed that. I can think of other places in Denver I'd rather go for dinner, but I hands down would come back for drinks and a show, or just the vibe alone. Such a cool concept and a great place.
Love their happy hour and LOVE their brunch. Been there a handful of times and had mostly great experiences. Not great for a large group during brunch on Sunday's but their happy hour during the week makes up for it. A small group is be better for brunch. Overall, the food is unique and tasty, so are their drinks. The atmosphere is to die for especially if you go for one of their burlesque shows that happen once a month I think. Definitely a place to visit if you are ever in Denver.
The ambiance of Ophelia's is incredible! Definitely NOT a place to take younger children because of the suggestive decoration, but it's a fun night out for adults. There's also a concert hall setting if you're seeking food and entertainment, so check the dates. The food is an odd variety of American dishes, but I recommend the burger section (particularly the bison). Ophelia's is a great place to go downtown if you're looking for a new setting.
food was fair. (Either the food should be better Or prices a little cheaper). I had the shrimp n grits... A side of something would have been appreciated given the small skillet at 17$Bottomless mimosas were bottomless & served pint size. Waitress friendly & had a smile. Great scene. Good music.
Had a very enjoyable dinner with my wife. We ordered a few small plates which were fantastic. Then the blackened catfish entree was very good. Great drinks and beer selection as well. Service was on point and provided really good suggestions for food and drink. The ambiance is very interesting in there. Really cool spot, check it out!
As a huge fan of root down and linger, of course I had to check out their sister restaurant! The first time I was here was for my sister's birthday brunch, which was delicious. I remember falling over backward for the cornbread & drooling over the salmon breakfast pizza.... so we came back for a more intimate setting for my birthday dinner. The stand out dishes were the blackened catfish, the beet & seed veggie burger & of course, that damn corn bread! I would bathe in that butter if it were socially acceptable. Although we walked down to The Inventing Room for dessert, our neighbors brownie marshmallow sundae looked extremely appealing. We will be back to try it out!
Walking by this place, the place looks deceiving. Once you go in and have a seat you realize how large this great place is.Came here for brunch and were seated over looking the stage/movie screen.French toast and eggs were amazing! Spring cheese plate to die for!! Hands down my favorite this mouth watering melted cheese variety arrives with an egg on top and pita bread slices on the side. I could have just eaten that all by its self.The band was playing and a nice touch. Looking forward to returning for a few movies.
One of the coolest scene bars in Denver. Well conceived sultry candle wax sexy vibe. Aesthetically flavorful. Bartenders are hit or miss in the congeniality department (ur cool cause you work here but check the condescension), but the drinks are consistently solid. Consistently strong/diverse lineup of national music acts. Wavy flave fursure.
An interesting addition to the Denver music scene, it's like if you put summit music hall inside of Linger. Had dinner here before a show and everyone enjoyed what they had, ordered the scallops, pork belly, and kale salad to start. The portions are what you expect from root down or linger, tapas sharing style plates with some standard entrees as well. Thy have an excellent cocktail menu, and make some pretty good drinks, but during showtime the bar can get pretty overrun and overheat as well. Place felt like they had no circulation downstairs and you find yourself getting moist pretty quick. Hopefully the A/C works during the summer months. There are a few kinks to work out, but it's a nice upscale option for dinner and music without getting puked on by a wookie, although I'm sure they'll catch on sooner or later. If they keep booking the acts I've started to see on their calendar, Kimock anyone?!?, then I'm sure I'll be back soon------------------Update Went back to see Steve Kimock the other week and the A/C was alive and working, even though they're were more people at this show it was considerably cooler and much more enjoyable. The only gripe is the cost of mixed drinks. I understand a premium price on house drinks, they make some good ones and I expect a higher price point, but when you order an absolute and Tonic, a single at that, it shouldn't cost $9.75, especially if the bartender is using a jigger to measure the pour. That is easily fixed by pre-drinking at a personal fav, El Chapultepec down the street.
My pictures of its food and interior say more than I need to! Ophelia's is a true GEM in downtown Denver. It is a loner in its comp set. There is absolutely nothing else like it in LoDo or CBD. In essence, picture this: A multi-level, boho-chic music bistro serving up soul euro fusion bites!Paradox? I'm okay with it.Its decor was very fitting to its vibe and menu design, as well. BUT, when we went, the music was slow bluegrass-ish tunes. So that sucked. I'm surprised they do not entertain the idea of having a contemporary ballot come in or at least indie musicians? Either way, food was great. Service was too! Do note its entrance is on the side of its bar windows (closest to Lawrence) NOT the door splitting the two sets of windows (this will make sense once you go).
I ate here twice this past weekend. It was close to the condo we stayed in and the food was excellent. We sat on the patio both times. When we went for dinner in a group of six we ordered small plates at happy hour. Great prices, delicious food, and awesome atmosphere. The drinks were delicious. We had flat bread pizza and poppers. The next morning we went back for brunch. There was a good DJ and then a band. It made the atmosphere very enjoyable. I ordered a salmon flatbread that was delicious, but I also ordered a side of bacon. Let me tell you about the bacon. It was perfect and probably the best bacon I've ever eaten (I've eaten a butt load of bacon in my 48 years) This bacon was very crisp but not burnt and had the most amazing flavor - I mean amazing like watching the most beautiful sunset while a unicorn prances by having a conversation with a fluffy kitten kind of amazing. If you go to brunch, for the love of all mankind, get the bacon.
Okay I give this place a 5 because I've been here when it was a video store with a peep show in back. I've always loved the building and love that it's been rejuvenated. We came on a Friday night when they had a cover and live music. We ordered from the late night menu, duck wings, chili corn bread and a bison burger. OMG all delicious! The wings have a kick and definitely get the bison medium cooked, so juicy!! Love this place! I had the sex machine cocktail, it's small but so tasty and good. The rest you need to experience for yourself. We will be back for the brunch!
Ugh, I really hate writing a review where I did not get to sample their product. However, being lied to trumps that emotion. I had a friend in town and wanted to show them everything that Denver has to offer. I called Ophelia's ahead of time asking what time the kitchen was open until as we planned to eat dinner there. Sure enough, we show up and were told the kitchen was closed. Then the bouncer wanted to charge us $5 to enter. Disappointing.
Best place in Denver by far. Fun and upbeat with great energy and fantastic customer service! The food was phenomenal the live artist was awesome and it never got boring. Guaranteed fun! Bout time Denver!!
The cocktails are amazing, professional service, and yummy food in a beautiful quirky environment. What more could you want? Oh unique and awesome entertainment, that's what! And they have it!
We were seated for our six o'clock reservation and simultaneously told that we needed to be done by seven thirty. Since when do we have a timer set on eating out?! I'm not sure if it was the hostess that was so obtuse that she doesn't understand what good customer service is or if that is a protocol by which this restaurant abides by, but once that tone is set for the dining experience it is hard to really even appreciate whether or not the food or the service are worthwhile. It is unfortunate because I eat out every night and entertain all of the time. Living across the street to this business it would be likely that I would go all of the regularly. With a climate such as Denver has where there are more than plenty of delicious places to go all this experience did was leave me feeling like 'get over yourselves Ophelias'.
I stopped into this place when it first opened. I love coming here when there's no music. It gets really loud and you can't hear other members of your party.Things I LOVE from the menu:-goat cheese jalapeno cornbread-spring cheese incident-breakfast quesadilla-monte cristo remix -plantainsThey really keep the brothel theme alive and the whole set-up of this restaurant was very well done. A great place to take girlfriends who are in from out-of-town - everyone always enjoys this place.
Brunch and bottomless mimosas. Enough said! They have an amazing brunch selection and you sure get your money's worth! The best part is the blood orange mimosas they're delicious! The decor is different and the atmosphere is family and adult friendly! It was any first time here and I'll sure be returning! The wait staff was friendly and really attentive!
This place is fabulous. The food is amazing and so is the staff. The service is what stood out the most for me. Everyone was so attentive. The place looks so cool too. I will be going back for sure. I wish I remember our server's names we had 2 of them and the manager was helping his servers and chatting with our table. Great place for 2 or a big group.
Although I haven't had a dinner here yet, I have enjoyed a few happy hour sessions that went pretty well. They seem to be super slammed during happy hour- good for business, service was kinda slow but the professional- they kept our drinks full. I'm excited to catch a dinner or live show here sometime! The decor is very fun & different than most places, I shall return soon!
Had such a great dinner here tonight. The ambiance was so cool and the corner tables along the upper deck had a very private feel. Our waitress, Kristen, was extremely professional and had great recommendations for us. We arrived around 5 so had an hour for happy hour deals (which were great). The Spring Cheese Incident and the Mushroom & Truffle Deluxxe Flatbread are to die for!! The waygu beef sliders were very tasty. Big fan of the Electric City cocktail
I needed a place to take my girlfriend out for our 1 year anniversary. Looking online for the hot new restaurants in Denver and Ophelia's popped up! I usually always base my decision in trying new restaurants based on their menu. After looking up Ophelia's menu, I was instantly intrigued! The variety and not-so-ordinary menu items was refreshing to see. And so it was a must-go for us!As we arrived, it looked small...until we were taken to be seated past the doorway where we stepped into an amazing overlook of the stage. Yes, a stage for live performers! Our seat was right at the edge of the overlook onto the stage itself. I didn't know anything of the layout of the restaurant, so I was not expecting that! It had to be one of the best seats in the house! The dim atmosphere helped the mood for the night as well, since our romantic celebration was underway! I have to say this was one of the best looking atmospheres for a restaurant that I have ever been in!Everyone from the check-in guy to the girl seating us, to the few waiter/waitresses on us were very helpful and polite. Great service here! For our appetizer, we decided to order the bourbon bbq oysters. These were very smooth and went down so fast, nice taste with the bbq as well. The next appetizer for us, was the stout-teriyaki duck wings. These were so delicious! I love crispy wings and these were so crispy and the sauce worked so well with the larger duck wings. The taste was unique and satisfying. For our entrees, we both ordered the brothel burger. Very fitting since this restaurant used to be a brothel back in the day. History is so interesting! ;P The brother burger was superb! It was made with ostrich, Korean bbq, miso candied bacon, ponzu onions, and pickled vegetables all on a pretzel bun. The combination of ingredients here worked wonders! It all was mouth-watering, every single bite was savored! This also came with a side of fries to compliment the burger itself.The experience we had at this new restaurant was memorable and super exciting! Nothing like I've been in before, but in a positive way! The food was wonderful as well! Highly recommend Ophelia's the next time you are in the area! :)

Good venue to see live music, but go early to try and find a seat or table. I was under the impression that if you purchase tickets beforehand online then you get a place to sit. That is not the case. This was my mistake. Good vibe and sexy atmosphere. I cannot attest to the quality of food because we strictly had drinks and listened to the music. I would recommend and would go back!
Great food and atmosphere! We were there for a large party birthday and it was a lot of fun. My husband and I ordered the bison and ostrich burgers. Both were cooked to temperature and delicious. We subbed salads for the fries. Salad was unique with pomegranate seeds as one of the garnishes - light and satisfying. My only gripe is that I asked for a "house cabernet," thinking I would get an "any ol' day cab" to drink, but when my bill came at the conclusion of the evening, my so-called house cab was $14 per glass - ridiculous in my opinion. This is where they lost a star in my overall rating.
Yum yum yum... Everything is fantastic. Happy hour cocktails, ribs, mussels, spring cheese dip, chicken and waffles, and the butterscotch dessert. Atmosphere is lively and the service was excellent. They were super accommodating with dietary restrictions. Food is organic and locally sourced.

Dining at Ophelia's Electric Soapbox is an experience of its own. Imagine 1920's Berlin meets classy a Cabaret/peep show. Apparently originally this historic building was a brothel and then an adult store. The food and service here is fabulous as well as the enchanting ambience. Every server is super friendly and tells you about the fascinating history of the building. They have a stage where they have music every weekend. Dining here really makes you feel classy and transports you to another world. I had the frontier burger and it was one of the best burgers I have ever had. I'd highly recommend Ophelia's Electric Soapbox for dinner.
We made a reservation & were seated promptly. With a larger party we were seated downstairs where they have several tables pushed together to accommodate big groups. Our waitress stopped by right after we were seated & we ordered some drinks. 40 minutes later (no joke) she stopped to ask if we wanted to order food. We had the rib appetizer which was awesome, the spring cheese incident, the shishito poppers, & the beet salad all of which were great! The ribs were a favorite for sure. For our entrees we had a mushroom flatbread, the quail egg flatbread, the brothel burger & a few other things i didn't try. The flatbreads were spot on, delicious crust, flavorful toppings, overall outstanding. The brothel burger (ordered because the reviews said it was great) was underwhelming. Small-medium sized ostrich patty, soggy piece of bacon (yes, there was a SINGLE piece on both of the burgers we ordered) & some shredded vegetables that said they were pickled but lacked any tartness or bite. The pretzel bun was tasty but kinda seemed to take over the other mild flavors. For $20 we really expected something more. for dessert we ordered a brownie sunday thing & the cheesecake both of which were devoured quickly. The cheesecake has a nice tart flavor which really cuts the sweetness of the sunday dessert, really yummy! Overall the food was great. Even though the burger was nothing special we did enjoy everything we ordered. Service, however, was absolutely terrible. We never had water on the table & ended up asking another server that was passing by our table for some, twice. Drinks were really slow (10 minutes for a beer & soda) but our waitress wasn't running around like crazy as i would have expected so perhaps that was the bars fault. Our empty appetizer plates sat on the table (about 15 min) until our entrees arrived & we had to scramble & re-arrange the empty plates to make room. Once we finished our entrees we sat for 25 minutes without anyone coming by to refill water, drinks, or offer us a dessert list. We actually had to get up & ask someone for a dessert menu because we were cutting it close with the time we were allotted for dinner (2.5 hours)! Not 30 seconds after we grabbed a menu our waitress stops by & asks if we want any dessert. We hadn't even had a chance to look & did she not realize that she hadn't given us a menu to begin with? I'm not going to blame her 100% because she was seated with a 10 top, an 8 top, & a 4 top (from what i could tell) all in the same 10 minutes. However, i'm pretty sure there was a male manager wandering around & was not helping out at all. Water some tables, clear some plates, touch some tables, help out your staff. We left pretty appalled by the service. We had guests in from out of town & were totally embarrassed at the caliper represented by this visit.If you don't mind service worse than your local Applebees, by all means give this a try. At least the food will be worth it!

The atmosphere is cool but unfortunately it's not a great place to go when it's busy. My family took me here for my birthday. We got seated but had to be moved because we had been seated at a reserved table. The seat we were transferred to made it very hard for my family to communicate. Finally got our food, some of it was great, other plates not so much. The staff being very busy forgot a few things we had ordered. Go when it's not so busy and get seated in the right spot.

Went to see an Amy Winehouse Tribute and it rocked! The palce was packed so it was hard to get drinks, but we had a great time anyways. Would be interested in trying the food as I've heard great things and on nights when it is packed it would probably be a good idea to get a table. The tables above the stage in the loft looked cool. Would def go back.

I don't get a lot of opportunities to have grown up brunch any more thanks to my two small children, but it says a lot about Ophelia's that I've chosen it twice in a row the last two times I had a chance to drink champagne mid-day while eating breakfast food. And while yes they have mimosas, and yes, they have a bottomless version, they also have a very delicious cocktail called Diamond Lil's that I ordered both times. Made with Contratto Bianco, Prosecco, lemon, and bitters it's refreshing and doesn't have the cloying sweetness too many mimosas can bring about. As for the food, I've yet to meet a dish there I didn't like and I've eaten my fair share. From the plantains to the green chili goat cheese cornbread, from the creme brulee French toast to the fried egg and spring cheese incident, and everything else in between I've eaten I have enjoyed every mouthful.Our servers have been nothing but wonderful and it is a goal of mine to make it to Ophelia's for dinner some time soon. And probs another brunch. That Diamond Lil, guys. So good.
Food = foodtastic orgasmic! The problem was the smell. Went here for my birthday and were seated on the patio (despite reservations). The problem is the patio backs up to the alley and about every 0-10 minutes there was a wave of sewage smell! Never sit on the patio!! Lesson learned...always request interior seating! Otherwise, ewwww gross!
Great spot to grab dinner! Plus the people watching is an added benefit! Food was fabulous and the drinks were even better! Service was a bit slow but other than that, highly recommend!
My bff and I went in this past Saturday for brunch! The food and service was amazing! Jacqueline was our server and she was such a joy! ! If I owned my own place I would steal her away for sure! One day. ..... the only negative was the crazy Japanese torture film, not the best viewing for dinig.
Visited Ophelia's tonight for dinner and brought a few out of towners with us. We've been there once before and the food was great. However, this time the food was definitely not of the same quality. I got the brothel burger, which I thought would be a good choice since the wagyu slides that we got last time were good. Wrong. I paid $20 for a burger I felt was of the same quality as fast food. It was a boring pre-made patty and a costco pretzel bun glamoured with a few carmelized onions on top. The chicken and waffles was a petty attempt at a great dish, too. Beer cheese soup, while tasty, was literally just melted cheese in a bowl. And, both the desserts we got were cookie-cutter bland ingredients with a sad attempt to flare them up (torched marshmallow).All in all, I think this place started out great but has started sacrificing the quality of the food but charging the same price.
Very cool place. Came with a friend and was intrigued just from the outside, as it has an interesting look, with mannequins in the window, and a hostel upstairs. In the front bar area, they have a nice area with couches, that you can eat/drink at, and we were lucky to snag some seats there. It had only opened at 4pm, but by 4:30pm there was a really good crowd there. Service from the beginning was great. She was incredibly friendly and knew a lot about the menu. We went during Happy Hour so took full advantage of the good prices. We tried every $5 cocktail on their menu, with the exception of the two bourbon drinks. Each had a different, unique taste and all were very enjoyable. We also tried a lot of food: 1.) Duck Wings. Came with 3 fairly big duck wings and sauce. Very tasty, a little messy. 2.) Shishito Poppers & Cheese Curds. I don't like peppers, so I stayed away from those, but the cheese curds were really good. Came with a mustard and a marmalade but the mustard tasted better with the cheese. 3.) Mushroom Flatbread. I hate onions, so we ordered without them, but this flatbread was super delicious. Mushrooms were not overpowering at all. 4.) Beef Slider. This was probably my favorite. Was a decent size for being a slider and was very tasty. 5.) Green Chile Cornbread. This was super good. The butter they put on top really brings out the flavor and makes it even more moist.Just when I thought we couldn't eat more food, we ordered dessert: Butterscotch Pudding and Brownie Marshmallow Sundae. Again, both were great, but I think I preferred the pudding, which surprised me.Aside from the food being amazing, the ambiance and general vibe of the place is cool. They have a stage downstairs and was told they pull down a big screen for NFL games or sometimes just play movies. Overall, I'm already excited to go back again.
Im surprised the high marks. Full disclosure, I only came for a couple of drinks on a Friday night. But the service was average and the cocktails were much below average. I expect that when I pay $12 for a cocktail that it would at least include fresh juice. The cocktails were made with juice out of a tap, and bartenders had to ask how to make standard cocktails like a sazarac. This is excusable when you are not a place that is selling expensive cocktails trying to be the next hot spot in town, but I expect Way more out of this group. Its laughable that a drink at W&G costs the same amount of money. Very disappointing, and will not return.
Really, really cool place that we went to for Sunday brunch. They had a beautiful large scale projector playing NFL, funky yet understated live jazz and great food. I betcha this place is even better for date night.
I wish I could come back to experience their full dinner menu . I came during happy hour 4-6. I sat at the bar and I believe they only have a happy hour menu between their happy hour times . But I could be wrong , I never asked . If you wanna get a feel for this place I suggest coming during this time . They have items that are on their normal menu - they are just smaller and cheaper ! Cocktails were all $5 and menu items were mostly $5-$10. I tried two cocktails and both were excellent . They make the cocktails with the ever so modern one giant ice cube ( which is actually better , it doesn't melt as fast and dilute your drink ). I got the muscles and duck wings to go. I recommend both . They put the wing sauce in a cup so it didn't leave my wings soggy before I was ready to eat them . The ranch dipping sauce had dill in it and wasn't generic tasting . The ambiance of the place was very romantic and upscale , without being snobby . Very friendly staff . I noticed the bartenders take pride in each drink and check them for quality before they are sent out .
I'm not sure how anyone could find anything wrong with this place. Came in for the first time today to check out bluegrass brunch. My boyfriend and I were highly impressed. Awesome venue to see a show! So many levels and seating options you can see the stage sitting from almost everywhere. They also offer patio seating in the back and there is a large dance floor for those who like to move. The food was amazing and you can't beat a parfait starter delivered to the table before your meal. The eclectic, and sometimes erotic decor is a conversation starter. Make sure to check out the ruler lined restrooms.
Opehlia's is a fun place to go and have good drinks and eat delicious food. The plantain's are INCREDIBLE! All of the flatbreads are delicious (and definitely enough for one person). The green chile goat cheese cornbread is heavenly a definite must try. The Spring Cheese Incident is also super tasty, it has different veggies and cheese to create a "healthier" take on baked cheese dip. The decor of the entire restaurant is really fun and I love the stage down below, it adds to the whole atmosphere of Ophelia's. For a good time and great food check out Opehlia's.
I've only had brunch here so my review is only for brunch.I had the Arepas Benedict and it was delicious. I think the Green Chili Hollandaise is what really makes it. The flavor was just very good. The coffee was also super good...and I liked that I could make a reservation for brunch. I hate waiting. I definitely want to come back here for a show. The fact that you can sit down at the tables above and still look down below to the stage is really cool to me. Sometimes I don't want to be crammed up against a million other people when watching music...and I love eating. So being able to eat and watch music at the same time would be awesome. Although, again...I haven't been here for a show, so I don't know what it's actually like once things start picking up.Good brunch, though. Potatoes were kind of "eh"...but it didn't really put a damper on my meal at all, I was too busy raving about everything else.
Gave it 5 Stars when they opened -- They had some of the best and friendliest mixologists in town and the food was outstanding.The food has slipped noticeably -- dishes are now hit and miss.The bar staff is way overworked most likely because the restaurant is too cheap to hire staff to clear tablesStill one of the most interesting interiors And, it holds great promise if they refocus

Ophelia's is incredible and turned and honest mistake into an incredible birthday celebration. After learning that our reservation was not taken correctly, Jose, the manager swept in and made good on our 10 person reservation being lost. We were given an entire section of the music venue lounge to host our friends and they even complimentary covered entry to the venue ( $15 cost ) for all of our guests.Ophelia's is a VERY cool place. Great entertainment, food and drink. But the treatment we had will make me a long term patron.

I really wanted to like Ophelia's. Along with the rest of Denver I think Root Down is fantastic. I always found Linger to be something of a letdown after that, and Ophelia's was somehow even more disappointing.For one I'm not really sure what they want it to be. Is it a bar? A music venue? A fine dining restaurant? I'm not sure it succeeds at any of them.Is it supposed to reach back to the bordello roots of the building and create a racy sexy vibe? Cause the art piece right at the front says so, but inside it's just sort of dark and eclectic at best.The food is of the elevated bar food genre. The goat cheese cornbread was good, but the goat cheese was hard to find. The mussels were tasty.. but you know..mussels. The peppadew poppers lacked pop, and were far too greasy for my taste. The only real highlight was the roasted chicken, which certainly looked amazing on the plate. The chicken itself was good, albeit a bit dry. The chimichurri was fantastic, but the rest of the plate came off as bland an uninteresting.The whole place feels like a third or fourth restaurant. It also feels like a restaurant of the past. Four or five years ago I would have raved about it I think. But Denver has finally moved past these sorts of efforts. With truly exceptional restaurants springing up all over town this place is nothing more than a novelty. A kind of cute attempt at capturing Denver's wild west heritage while playing it far to conservatively to even come close.

I tried to make a reservation with OpenTable but if you have more than 4 people in your party, you have to make the reservation on their online site or give them a call.I called and was able to make brunch reservations for Sunday for 9 people on the patio. The hostess was very friendly and efficient.We were seated right away and the patio was very comfortable, but just a little hot--they could put another sun shade or patio umbrellas because the sun was filtering thru to our table.The servers were very friendly and efficient. We started off with the Bottomless Mimosas and they offered regular and blood orange. The mimosas were good but had to ask for more orange juice and that made it better. There aren't enough ways to describe how incredible this place is. Every dish we ordered was amazing. Such unique food and flavor combinations. The funk jazz playing on Friday night was the icing on the cake! 5 stars for food, service & atmosphere
This place made a GREAT first impression! Ophelia's is a sister restaurant to Root Down and Linger and just like those two spaces it has a unique interior with a cool history and an excellent menu to go with! Think brothel turned speak easy!I took my friend for brunch on a recent Sunday late morning and we were promptly seated side by side in front of the stage, which is lower than the rest of the restaurant. Server noted there is music Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. No music but on the big projector was one of the nfl games playing for viewers enjoyment. I think it was easy to get into as I didn't think they had a patio (side note: they do) and it is a fairly dark interior to make it more of a jazz club feel. I enjoyed the fried egg and spring cheese incident. It came served in a cast iron mini casserole dish...holy cheese it was amazing and gluttonous and everything it should be. Served with warm flatbread I scooped up every last bite. It's listed on the skillets section but is more than enough to fill you up. My vegan friend enjoyed the tempeh espanola and judging by his empty plate I think it is safe to say he liked it. I can't wait to come back and enjoy this dark interior on a fall night with some jazz tunes coming up from the stage while I eat some more excellent food!
What a great find! The food was phenomenal and we oh ordered appetizers! I cannot wait to go back and try some entrees! The band that played the night we were there were great, and the table we had was fantastic and fun viewing!
Ophelia's had a great atmosphere. The decor had a cool jazz nightclub vibe with booths and balcony seating for diners. We came on a night with no music, but were seated in the booths by the balcony! I would love to be able to catch a show here one night. My friend and I started out with the hummus and string cheese incident appetizer. Both were good, I felt that the string cheese incident - a cheese/veggie dip - was the better & more flavorful of the two. We got the gluten free bread and we're thankful they had the option due to my GF diet. We ordered the steak entree to share and were disappointed. When ordering a nice steak, it should be more steak than fat. Our steak came out extremely fatty. We both were unable to enjoy it, so we asked to have it sent back. Our server seemed slightly upset when we explained to him our issue with our meal - it actually made us feel guilty. 3 stars due to the fatty steak entree and the mediocre service.
I'm a fan! We came here for brunch this past weekend before heading over to a Rockies game and Ophelia's just emanates coolness. I mean...they call themselves a gastrobrothel to pay homage to the buildings original roots as a brothel. How cool is that?! Anyway, they definitely get 5 stars for ambiance and atmosphere. They even have a lounge area on the basement level where you can sit next to whatever live band happens to be playing that day. And patio?! Yes! They have one! Who would've thunk, but they do. Good job Ophelia's!Now on to the food. Yum yum in my tum tum. I really think our entire party of six gobbled up every last morsel. Side of bacon? Check. Short rib benny? Check. Arepas benny? Check. Steak & eggs? Check. ....you get the picture. Oh, duck meatballs? Check check. I think the food here deserves 5 stars, at least for brunch anyway.Service was the only little let-down. And by let-down, I mean pretty minor. They got everyone's dishes correct, we were all served together, they accommodated any special requests, but they were almost painfully slow. And I'm positive that the kitchen wasn't to blame as our food came out relatively speedy, so I think it was just our server?Anyway, overall - great place and I'd love to come back for dinner.
This place is so fucking COOL! I don't think there's any restaurant in Denver quite like it. You'll just have to go see for yourself to see what I'm saying. It's a beautiful building and the food & service is stellar. I had brunch here and it was fantastic. I need to come back on a weekend night for sure!
This new hip spot is a fun place to go for live music. Our group of 6 tried a bunch of different apps & tapas. All tasty, except none of us were fans of the smoked scallops (they are served cold) The Papadew poppers were good & bonus....they come with fried Wisconsin cheddar cheese curds! The sausage platter was tasty as well. The music venue last night was a group of guys from Jerusalem, they were fun to listen to.
I loved everything about this place; the ambiance, the live brunch music, the blood-orange mimosa, and the food. This was a wonderful place to leisurely enjoy our last long morning in Denver.This second paragraph exists only because the meal I had merits its own cluster of sentences. The name of the dish alone is worth taking the gamble for a solid delivery. Imagine a fresh Venezuelan style fried food pocket with a perfectly poached egg perched atop it, and a hollandaise blanket beckoning your tongue to bathe itself in an ecstatic myriad of flavor-gasms. Double it. That is the pleasure that awaits you: Arepas Benedict.
It was love at first sight. From the unique atmosphere to the fantastic food, to the even better cocktails, Ophelia's will forever hold a place in my heart. The String Cheese Incident is absolutely amazing as well as their mushroom flatbread. Friendly, attentive staff, cozy patio and great happy hour prices! Do it.

Food and atmosphere was great and we had heard great things before coming. Unfortunately as the meal moved along our service got worse and worse and then non-existent. Maybe because we brought my parents and had a very well behaved 5 year old? Whatever it was! Get it together for all your customers not just the hipster ones!
Went here last night (8/4) with the girlfriend.Service was fantastic. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the entire menu (including drinks) and had indicated he had had the chance to try all the dishes many times. He made a few suggestions and we tried out a few of the suggestions he made, to great success! He asked us twice if we had any food allergies or preferences we should know about, he was attentive but not hovering, and he had a wonderful smile. (Thanks Matt!)The menu was a little unusual in that there really wasn't clear demarcation of courses (I am under the impression that having gone to one of their sister restaurants would impart knowledge about how to order from their menu). Portions seem small at first glance but are shareable, pleasantly filling and very high quality. We enjoyed a selection from across the menu (monte cristo, duck wings, flatbread) and they were brought to the table at exactly the right speed and in courses. Dessert was offered up after and we decided to go for it. Rockin' dessert with two spoons. Presentation was well-executed throughout.Drinks were well made - I tried a G&T and one of their listed cocktails, the girlfriend had two of the cocktails. Of the 3 from their specials two were sweet, not cloying but pretty close. Designer drinks that are to be experienced though. Their regular mixed drinks were spot on.Atmosphere is dark and low-profile. Classic boudoir/brothel artwork and kitsch. Very smartly designed and clean. I chuckled when I went into the bathroom and all the stall dividers were made of yard sticks, nice touch (and clean bathrooms). Consistent buzz upstairs but not so loud you can't have a conversation. The centerpiece of the room was definitely the restaurant's stage, with a beautiful balcony layout in the restaurant overlooking the venue area. The multipurpose nature of the building lends a nice weight to the ambiance.I will definitely return here in the future with the hopes of another wonderful experience.
Haven't done the full on food experience but wanted to review Ophelia's as a concert venue. Top notch!!! I was so impressed with the sound, lighting, number of people at the venue and the multiple levels that made this so unique. It was intimate and a full scale concert venue sound - lighting show at the same time with IMAG camera showing live projection of the show above the stage the whole time. We danced the entire time but should point out that those that did reserved seating or the dinner and show had seats with a view the whole show. I will be back for dinner and a brunch withEntertainment too!!!
I'll give this a good, not great. We tried a lot of happy hour dishes. The mussels were delish and a generous serving, yummy cornbread, LOVED the poppers and spring cheese incident. Again, drinks were good, but seemed like "happy hour strength". I had two Diamond Lil's--bright and fizzy and hit the spot. I'd come back, but there are other places that are pulling a little harder.
I wanted to give this place more stars. It was funky and swanky, as expected per the reviews I read.I was a party of 3 at 8pm on a Friday night. The place was packed and honestly, way too warm. We were visiting from Texas so we know heat all too well. We had the Scallops- a bit of a deconstructed dish. They were not as flavorful as I would have hoped. Be careful of the hot sauce! BBQ oysters- small, nothing to write home about. Sausage plate- tasty! Teriyaki duck wings- so good, we order another round, however they were significantly spicer the 2nd time. Green chile corn bread- delicious The musical act that was there was not what I would have chosen. They were a 4 member string band playing blue grass. I would have wanted sexier, jazzy, lounge music to match the bordello themed atmosphere. Service was ok, our food come out twice, and it seemed a bit chaotic for the servers.
Man, this guy has done it again - another spectacularly original food and watering hole, modernly updated with musings of the actual building's history. Even your grandparents will feel the cool vibe here. Food, no question, is the bomb - exactly what you would expect from a Chef Justin's kitchen. Beverage selection is good, but could use a few more craft beer choices (). There was no music playing when I was there for an early dinner with friends, but will definitely be back to check that out. Definitely a "must go to" restaurant, easily a top 5 new joint for Denver.
Yes!Eclectic music, food, dance, drink, performance....place. All of these things rolled into one. Or maybe even smooshed. I think it is the smooshing that makes it unique...maybe not desirable but tolerable, big city stuff. We went for the Michael Jackson vs Prince DJ event. There was an artist painting on stage as two DJs performed. People dancing up high, down low, and in the middle. Several levels of fun, literally and figuratively. If you want a table, or to stand and mingle, or to dance on the dance floor. Great spot. Haven't eaten there yet.
Romantic date night became the most delicious meal I've had in Denver. Screw the date, bring on the food! Seriously limited vegetarian menu did not limit my seriously awesome experience. Got the veggie burger, a smooth beet patty that reminded me of beef tartar. Date partner got duck wings. We shared the green chile cornbread and an incredible salad.Go for the ambiance, stay for the food. Seriously. Go.
Amazing food, drinks, atmosphere and service. Kristin was one of the best servers ever! The brunch was out of this world.. Peppers and corn bread were delicious as were the pancakes and kale salade. Will definitely return. Please keep up the amazing work!

I love the space. I love the building. It's got this cool brothel-ly feel... Arriving and leaving made me feel like I was getting away with something that I wasn't supposed to do. I love the bathroom, the decor was just... Colorful and awesome, I'm not sure how else to explain it. I love the neighborhood and what's happening to it. That's where my love of Ophelia's ends. I came to Ophelia's on a recommendation from a friend, telling me that it was one of his favorite brunch spots. Cool. So, I get to the restaurant for a late Brunch (2ish) and sit at the bar - I like eating at the Bar, I've found, it's usually better service at a bar. After being ignored for 20 minutes, I was finally acknowledged by the hipster bartender, who apparently doesn't notice when he's got a customer 5 feet in front of him. I was then, offered a drink, asked if I had any questions about the menu. I asked a question, which Hipster stared blankly away - When he noticed me again, with a puzzled look on my face, I get a "I'm sorry, did you have a question?"Seriously? You took my drink order fine, but that's when you stop listening? Are you just going through the motions of offering help with the menu, but not actually willing to answer questions I may or may not have?OK, fine. Order my food, The duck meat balls were... I didn't enjoy them, but I think that's on me. They came drizzled in balsamic, grits and lingonberry jam. Sweet on sweet on sweet, is just not my jam - I didn't pay enough attention to the description, I guess. I blame it on my annoyance of being ignored by the bartender.I ordered toast, which... I mean... I guess I kinda expected 2 slices of toast for $1. Because $1 for white bread is fucking expensive. Even if it is sliced into neat little shapes by the kitchen.I ordered an extra poached egg. It was fine, except, I don't know how else to describe what came on it as "edible glitter"... My egg was sparkling. The sparkles didn't add anything to the egg except, I guess I felt like I was in a brothel. Even more.
One more fun item is that above Ophelia's is a hostel. Every room is different and it is quite unique. I believe it is called Fish Hostel but don'tReel me in if I am wrong
The atmosphere was beautifully decorated and very comfortable . I must say the food was the best I have had in a very long time ! The bartender Derek made great drinks and was very friendly and accommodating ! We will definitely go back !
Went here last night and had a less than fun time. Tried to get a drink only to have the bartender give us attitude. He was very aggressive with his words, and his stench was so strong it made our eyes water. Music was good and the decor is really cool....it gets crowded in here.
Nope. This place is not as good as people are making it out to be. If you read my reviews of Root Down and Linger, you'll see I'm a devoted fan. This one has all the buzz, atmosphere and scene, but the food is an afterthought. And service is downright creepy. Ironic that service at the mortuary themed Linger is busting with good cheer, and service at this old adult entertainment wonderland is a downer.Went here last night with another couple. The hype about the spring cheese incident is well deserved. But the pita bread accompaniment was bland, thick and dry, and not even toasted or warmed up. Just slapped on the plate like you'd expect to see at a cafeteria. My group unanimously considered that the winner dish of the night. I enjoyed my tasty arepas, but after a while my tastebuds felt overstimulated, like they needed more balance of some sort. Something creamy and cool and crunchy, perhaps, like tzatziki or raita or something. But everything else we tried? Meh. Ribs were just ok and very unappetizing visually. Scallops were underwhelming. Yak/ostrich burger was ok. The fries with our orders were pretty bland, and the vindaloo ketchup didn't really pair well with it. I'd just had brunch the previous Sunday at Root Down and was blown away by how tasty even the basic home fries were, crispy on the outside, creamy soft on the inside and packing a major potato flavor, and so perfectly seasoned. The fries at Ophelia's tasted like... oh... I don't remember. Drinks were forgettable too. Everyone in my group kept changing cocktail orders, in search of something better that never came.And did I mention the bad service? Uncharacteristically bad for a Cucci restaurant. The sole hostess at the front had a perma-sour look on her face. She never greeted or welcomed me, never cracked a smile, not even a smirk, avoided all eye contact (actually she may have snuck in a brief hostile glance), and generally looked and acted very annoyed and put out by having to tend to me. It always baffles me how some people choose the very jobs that they are least qualified to perform. This hostess is better suited for a career as a jailer or livestock castrator. The rest of my party was already waiting for me at the bar, and they all complained that the bartender pretty much ignored them for over 20 minutes and eked out one miserable drink at the very end. They sat there long enough to overhear other patrons leave in a huff because of slow to no bar service. I might give it another try. There are more menu items I'm tempted to try, and the staff could still be working out service kinks. But based on this first visit alone, I'm not a fan.
Ophelia's is an old Denver brothel turned into a restaurant hence the sexual paintings/decor throughout. I am absolutely a fan of this up and coming new restaurant. However, the food is not as amazing as Root Down. In case you don't know, this place is also owned by the same owner of Root Down and Linger. I love them all, but Root Down is my absolute fave.I came to Ophelia's during their happy hour and chose to sit outside. Before being seated outside I got a quick peek of their dining area. The place is huge and offers various seatings: bars, booth, table and a lounging area. The whole ambiance of the place is lively, upbeat and chic. I can definitely tell this place is going to get busy quick.As for the food, it was pretty good and beautifully presented. My party ordered half a dozen oysters, Belgian mussels, stout-teriyaki duck wings, gigante bean hummus, and the waygu beef slider. All were 5 bucks a piece except oysters were $2 each. They all had really great flavors and their ingredients are fresh.Staff were extremely nice and attentive. We were visited by one of the manager and asked if we enjoy the place; WE DID.
Hands down the best little music venue in Denver. oh, and the smoked scallops are fantastic too...
I've been three times and have had great service every time. Really great place and great food. Harrison is an amazing server, so be sure you see him when you go!
Absolutely delicious!!! The duck wings, flat bread, meatballs all were amazing. This place absolutely lives up to the hype and Derek our bartender really made our experience wonderful. Drinks, service, atmosphere were on point I will definitely be back for more
Amazing place so much potential but music is WAY to loud, and I'm not being an old lady here I couldn't talk to the person next to me or even order a drink. Give the atmosphere 100% but if your eating here learn sign language but you won't be able to talk or hear anything that's less then 2 inches from your ear.
I love Linger. I love Root Down. I really really wanted to love Ophelia's. But I just didn't. I made a reservation weeks ago and when we showed up we still ended up waiting for a table (not long, but still!). Then they seated us at a table behind the bar that was so close to the ones next to it, I might as well have been at a community table. Not only could we barely hear each other but they had the door to the street open and I was freezing. After 10 yells of "WHAT!" in 2 minutes, I asked our waitress if we could move somewhere quieter and I even told her we didn't mind waiting for another table. She said we could sit on the patio (yeah right) or stay where we were. So we spent our anniversary night yelling across the table to each other. I mean I'm totally cool with loud restaurants, but if I have to speak up, I'd rather not have to do it with other people so close by. The tables around the balcony overlooking the stage would've been more private, I think.The saving grace was the food, which was all very very good! The two of us split two starters (peppadew poppers w/ cheese curds and the Spring Cheese Incident) and two entrees (beef sliders and Bolognese flatbread) and it was all phenomenal. The Spring Cheese Incident was far and away my favorite thing of the night and better than anything I've had at Linger or Root Down. Gah, so good! We each ordered a drink and those were on point as well. I'm not a huge cocktail person (yet!) so I stayed safe with the Electric City and it was delicious. Ended the meal with two salted caramels, which were the perfect dessert bite.There was a table of five next to us so our waitress kind of checked out halfway through our meal to take good care of the bigger bill and that was so disappointing. We sat staring at our plates, waiting for her to come over for at least 10 minutes before a manager (I'm guessing) noticed and offered to box our leftovers. I'm so bummed because I'd been looking forward to going to Ophelia's since I first heard about it last year, following its progress until it finally opened and it was not what I expected service-wise. It's an awesome space (that I can tell a lot of detail went into), with an awesome menu but I'm not all that anxious to go back.
