I don;t know why this board is filled with diner or restaurant reviews. The daily Planet at this address is a sleazy strip club serving cheap drinks and beer by incompetent barmaids and lousy food to go with your lap dance. Girls range from 0-7 with an average of 2.5 to 3 so you know the 7s are not common.

Hostess was very rude, threw my credit card at me after paying at the front. Definitely shouldn't have that job.

Haven't even tried the food yet. It's probably good but Jesus Christ the service is terrible. Don't say it's going to be 20 minutes for a pickup order when it's going to be an hour. Completely disorganized.

Honestly, it's just a solid diner. Nothing fancy, just the usual diner fare mixed with 60's nostalgia. I've grown fond of this spot after having visited it several times on the way to Albany. My go-to is the spinach and goat cheese omelet (because really, goat cheese is a must). Not that bacon should necessarily be the judge of a spot, but nine times out of ten, it's perfectly done (mix of crispy and chewy). I sense this will continue ti be a favorite pit stop on future trips upstate.

Good food, friendly staff. We come here in the summer when we can sit outside after going for a bike ride on the rail trail down the road. There is something for everyone on the menu. We did a split of the fire roasted veggie panini with side salad and the asparagus salad with beets and goat cheese. Our son got the basic hamburger with a side salad. The burger was cooked perfect and it looked awesome, but our son was not sharing! We were totally happy with our food though. And sitting outside toward the back of the patio is nicer than being inside.

I had eaten here once before for a family celebration. I was disappointed by the food which was poor to mediocre and the service which was poor. In addition, I found the prices to be a little on the high side for diner fare.I had recently heard that the Daily Planet is a good, solid diner. That made me think that maybe my past experience wasn't typical and maybe they just have difficulty with large groups. So I figured I'd give them another chance. We arrived around 3PM on a Monday and my guest and I both decided on breakfast food. I ordered the "Orphan Annie" which is supposed to be, "A mound of steaming hot, homemade corned beef hash with two poached eggs placed gently on top, finished with a touch of our creamy Hollandaise sauce & toast."First of all, what they served me could neither be referred to as a "mound" or "homemade." What I received was a serving spoon of CANNED corned beef hash with two poached eggs. There was so little hash that the chef filled more than half of the plate with what tasted like day old home fries. After waiting a very long time for our server, I informed him of the problem and he said I'd have to speak to the manager. The manager admitted that the hash originated from a can but said they call it homemade because they add other things to it. I informed him that nothing had been added to this hash and that homemade is supposed to mean made on the premises. It does not mean brought from somewhere else and dumped onto the grill from a can. I gave him back the barely touched plate of food and ordered nothing else. The service was very poor. Our server stayed on the other side of the restaurant and we had to flag down other servers to relay to him that we needed him to return. Finally, the prices are very high for the food that they serve. My dish was 8.95 which would have been reasonable if there was a GENEROUS portion of actually HOMEMADE corned beef hash. As it stands, the food I received would have been overpriced at 5.95. To add insult to injury, when I went to pay for the omelette that my friend ate, the cashier asked how everything was. When I told her whoever writes the menu should take the word "homemade" out of the description for the "Orphan Annie" she just laughed and told me I could speak to the manager. At the very least, I would have expected an insincere "I'm sorry" but apparently, she just found the sub-par food to be funny. The bottom line is, I don't go to a restaurant to be served reheated, canned food at a premium price. Needless to say, I won't be returning.

Went for lunch today. We always go for something to eat after the Stormville flea market and today was no different. It was busy when we arrived but the wait was short. Once seated drinks came fast but waited quite a while for our food. Surprised the usual Cole slaw and pickle did not arrive and still didn't with the meal. I had a Ruben and my husband had a cheeseburger which we agree both were very good. Missed the extras but still worth it. Also bathrooms needing attention.

When travelling the Taconic, this is really the only place along the way we even consider stopping. Nice full menu, plenty of good options. Enjoyed the fries, coleslaw and pickle that came with my meal. My 6 year old gets a kick out of the "car" her meal is served in. I've tried a few things from the menu and have always been happy with the food. Service wasn't great last time, took several minutes to even see our server, and cups sat empty on our table for several more minutes before getting a refill. Only time having an issue with the service in the last few years though.

I've been going to the Daily Planet for over a decade. The quality has ebbed and flowed over the years, yet it has been a staple because of the convenience factor. So when my mother & I treated ourselves on New Year's Day, we figured we would get a good dining experience. Boy, was I wrong! First of all, our waiter was very nice & attentive. It's obvious management is trying to cut costs wherever possible. There are no napkin dispensers on tables anymore, ordering a cup of coffee doesn't automatically give you cream with your drink, french fries are now an additional $2 with a burger order, the gyro no longer comes with a Greek salad, cole slaw and a pickle wedge. Never mind the menus look like someone had chewed on them. Clearly, they had not been replaced in some time. The most egregious offender was the appetizer we ordered, the "Rio Grande Rolls." For $9, it was 2 egg rolls cut length-wise into four strips. My mother & I were appalled! After our sub-par experience, and the VERY obvious "nickel & diming" present (we were surprised we weren't charged a "check-out fee" for paying our bill), my mother went to talk to the manager as I paid. The manager told her, "this is how we're doing things now" & to get used to it. She told him he had lost 2 customers if that would be the case. He shrugged his shoulders. It was a good run, Daily Planet.

Popped in for a quick bite and late dinner. Menu is huge. Service was fine. A veggie panini and sweet potato fries was $11.50. Too much, especially for the quality. SP fries were good. Best part about the panini was the bread, goat cheese and roasted red pepper. The eggplant was too thick and soggy, portabella and squash woefully under seasoned. Overall very bland and not worth a return visit. Much better diners in the area.

Stopped by this place on a road trip today. Our waitress was amazing- and just made the experience wonderful. The kids meals came in tiny cardboard convertibles which they loved. Everyone loved their food, but I wasn't too keen on my veggie burger. My waitress made sure it was removed from our bill. I also asked for a cake for my twins birthday- and she brought out two cupcakes on the house (and one for our toddler). We had such a pleasant experience- which was made even more so by our waitress (I believe her name was Pam)! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Great food! We ordered nachos (huge portion) and they were really good. The ground beef and cheese melted perfect on each chip. They give you ample amounts of salsa, sour cream, and guacamole (my only complaint...guacamole was too smooth and runny. Tasted very commercial). I ordered a burger (med) and it was cooked to perfection (tasty and juicy). The best part if this meal was the delicious coleslaw. Perfect flavor that is so hard to find. Service was efficient too! Well deserved 5 stars for this diner.

Great service, and usually great food, but the quality of the food can differ from day to day. Giant servings, especially of pasta. Breakfast is usually amazing, but be careful ordering anything with eggs.

It's hard to write a definite review for this restaurant. I've been coming to the Daily Planet since i was young and the quality of my meals seems to differ each time. As of this occasion, my family members weren't pleased with their meals. My sister had a egg and sausage sandwich and we were all in agreement that it looked like it was frozen food. The past two visits I've had breakfast and the Belgian waffle has been great each time. For dinner, I've had the chicken pot pie which has been excellent. The service has always been constantly great and to add to that the coffee is outstanding!

Pretty sweet diner near Poughkeepsie. Bright and cheerful even on Sunday night, it was a nice respite from our drive back to NYC. It's Superman-themed with an abundance of classic diner touches (film and music memorabilia on the walls, jukeboxes in every booth). There's an extensive menu with punny dish names so peruse away. I had a very respectable French onion soup and a "Fonz Burger" that was above average, though not as good as the ones we had grilled at our campsite the day before. They also have tasty smoothies and plenty of old-timey fountain drinks if you have some workouts/diets to negate.

Went there on Friday on a random stop from NYC to Albany. I had the goat cheese and spinach omlette which was OUT OF THIS WORLD! My bf had the chicken gyro which was better than a majority of Greek restaurants. We loved the diner so much that we went back today on our way back from Albany. I tried the healthy start quesadilla which had egg whites, turkey sausage, spinach, swiss and home fries - ALL IN THE quesadilla. AMAZING. My bf had the cobb salad wrap which was also phenomenal. Hands down best diner I've probably ever been to. Will definitely be back on our next trip upstate on the Taconic. The service and prices were also great!!

Completely un-impressive. The food was decent but nothing special. We had to ask 3 times for more creamer for our coffees. On the plus side the staff was pleasant and the place was busy. I won't make it a point to head back anytime soon though.

Gonna miss the DP. Ate there sometimes three times a week! The food was generally good, service was great and the atmosphere is inviting.Julio runs a tight ship and most of the servers are very attentive. Chris, Ray, Chelsea and many others made this place what it is...My favs in the morning were the NEW breakfast burritos with eggs, avacado, tomatoes and the Chicken Avacado Panini is killer for lunch or dinner. They make a mean burger as well.My only gripe is that they are not open later on the weekends for those late night munchies...oh well.

A nicer version of a diner. Have had many of sandwiches and entrees over the years and they have been good not great. Just had chicken pot pie and it was outstanding. Service is pretty quick. Lots of families and larger groups so it can be loud. Worth a try if you want variety for your group . Hostess/waitress were excellent:)

I have had 2 very different experiences here in the last 6 months. One time was 5 stars - I went with a fellow preggie friend to indulge and had fantastic service. I had the Wrap of Khan, and it was made absolutely deliciously, with perfectly grilled and marinated onions and peppers. The next time I went there, only a month later, was with my husband, and I literally had to drag my 7 month pregnant butt up to the counter 3 times just to get a waitress over to our table to get our drink order.I ordered the Wrap of Khan again and the vegetables were poorly cooked and the flavors didn't marry well within the wrap. This visit was 3 stars at best. So it averages out to 4 stars... I will say this, it is definitely worth a visit, and the menu has a lot of delicious offerings that will not disappoint (at long as the service is there to actually take your order and deliver it in a timely fashion). One must try their baked goods - very tasty!

My kids love the place for basic grill cheese and slider burgers but worst wings I have ever had. They cover it with ketchup as a BBQ sauce. I also had an omelette and it was dry and the bacon was chewy. Any substitutions for the home fries were extra. I don't know maybe just the wrong chef those 2 different occasions.

I kind of want to go to four stars but, this place can be a hit or miss depending on what you order. The cheese fondue bruchetta is insane, I can eat 2 servings alone if allowed. I've also had a seafood alfredo which I was surprised was very good. Now to some of the basics. The pot roast..meh, the potato pancakes were awful, burnt, dry, no. My husband has had the pancakes, and said they were bland, I found them a bit dry, perhaps the batter was overworked, but overall ok. He's also had the burger, which he said was ok, but I found to be very small, definitely not you basic greek diner burger. The orphan annie plate was 50/50 for me. The corned beef is not entirely fresh, but there was also no part of me that expected it to be. However they do incorporate little chunks of corned beef along with what I know is canned, so that adds a nice element. I asked for 2 fried eggs over easy instead of the poached, cuz I knew they wouldn't poach em right, sorry. However what I got were two electrocuted eggs, over cooked would have been nice, they were beyond that. So needless to say the nice creamy yolk running into the hash, nope wasn't happening. Even the toast seemed sloppy, in that there was a dime sized dab of margarine (a friggin sin) on the middle of each slice, making only that part of the bread worth eating. Surprisingly, the hollandaise was not bad at all; far from traditional, but for a diner I was surprised.I have to say, although most of my post seems negative, when something is good here it's really good. So I'm gona stick to my bruchetta; cuz damn, and keep hope alive for future items.

Daily Planet is great stuff. Their menu is extremely varied, from bruschetta and fajitas, to burgers and calamari. They have a full bar and an huge selection of cookies and cakes. The fajitas were the best I've had in a long time, and I worked at a tex mex restaurant for 5 years. Our waiter was good and looked like Brendan Frasier had a baby with Jared Leto. I'd give it 5 stars, but there were a lot of kids there.

Go to the club to find out about auditions. Girls from other clubs are always trying to get in here. Other girls who move are always trying to get back here. Its really a great place to dance. If you are thinking about checking out the club, then check it out. YMMV, but mileage does not get stuck at HOP like it does at playhouse where they beat you on the time of THIRTY dollar dances and the girls play games with you.

We live about 5min away from the Daily Planet so it's become something of a regular spot. The fact that my wife and two kids don't say NO when I suggest we go there speaks volumes. The food and service is pretty good. I just wished the breakfast menu had a little something more. It's eggs, pancakes or waffles. And not many variations of those three. Put a special on the board. Potato pancakes, buckwheat, something man.The last thing to note is atmosphere. I've never been there and noticed anyone else. Everyone just seems to be really chill. My kids don't fight, other kids don't fight, they must pump something into the air.

That last post was completely uncalled for. Has The Planet been reduced to this...not enough dancers so you start insulting other customers? Grow up people. This place will always rule based on atmosphere alone. It's almost like the dancers are an afterthought. This is, hands down, the cleanest bar with the best bartenders around. The prices are fair. If you want a wild go-go experience, this is not for you. But, if you want to hang out, have a few drinks, shoot some pool and talk to some interesting people, The Planet is your kinda place. Lay off of Ray AND Chrissy. And to Sara, whassa matter, can't cut it up there in the woods, city gal? You need a personality to work here. It's obvious that you don't have any.

This decent family-friendly diner has an extensive menu with lots of variety to suit many tastes. The food can range from mediocre to pretty tasty, depending on kitchen staff I suppose. Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Our favorites include Penne from Heaven (penne a la vodka), Carmen Miranda chicken wrap, and burgers (on good days... but the buns can be dry and the burgers overcooked, so order accordingly).Desserts to die for, including sundaes and lots of pies, cakes and cookies for eating in or taking home. There is usually a wait on weekend evenings. The place is clean but there is nowhere to change a baby's diaper.

The bar seats about 15 and there is a separate little room for pool. It's very rustic but clean. Don't drink too much because that road is a little narrow. Good luck!
