It’s ok. Here on a Tuesday night when I should probably be home. Drinks are over priced and there are only 2 girls dancing.

I took my friend around downtown San Jose as a last minute bachelor party. He had just done a tour in Afghanistan and wasn’t even sure if he would make it in time for his wedding. Since the rest of the groomsmen weren’t from the area I took the lead trying to show them around. When we walked up to this place, I heard that they had a dress code so I was afraid we couldn’t get in, but I saw a guy normally dress with jeans and sneakers walk in so I thought it wouldn’t be a problem. Now I never like to accuse places of being racist, (I actually find it rare being from San Jose) but when we got up to the bouncer, which at this point I should probably tell you that the groom and the rest of the groomsmen is black, surprise! He wouldn’t let us in, saying that we’re not in dress code because we were wearing sneakers. When we asked how come he let the other guy with sneakers in, he gave us no answer and just stared at us. Judging by the other reviews, I’m actually glad we “weren’t in dress code” I would hate to support this place.

Saturday night my buddies and I went to golds for the first time. Check it out and see what’s up. 20.00 cover charge.. Ok I’ll put up with it bartender is cool.. Friendly.. Went to sit down and saw the ladies, started tipping enjoying ourselves and talk about good times.. Took a pic and sent one to our buddy who couldn’t come out and all of a sudden this dancer comes from behind and yelled at us saying it was not ok and grabbed our money that was in the table and threw it on stage.. Very disrespectful…then got the nerve to ask us if we want to go upstairs.. Excuse me? We got up and left…

Gave this place a few more tries. Came here on a Tuesday night (no cover) around 9:30 and it was completely dead. We saw a couple go in and came back out right away. We got a few drinks (drinks are normal club prices, beers are cheap) and male customers started coming in. We were the only 2 girl customers so we got a lot of attention from the male customers. One of the girls actually asked if we wanted a couples dance haha! We are two straight girls who just appreciate the female body! Most of the guys did not tip even though they were sitting at the stage area. Really guys? It’s etiquette! My friend and I kept tipping even though there were like 3-4 girls on rotation only. Needless to say I spent $$$$ that night, but we had a blast! Some of the girls were attractive. I’m glad there’s a variety of body types. The girls were really nice and they strip off their tops while they are dancing to reveal pasties. Expensive lap dance with no touching wasn’t worth it, so we stuck with watching lap dance on stage and drinking. Bring girls for cheaper cover charge if you are with guys! We liked the girl named Crystal. She was great with the pole and had great smile! We also loved our Bartender Justin! He is awesome. There’s cover charge at 9pm on busy days like Fri and Sat, but some people still get in for free if somehow it’s not busy.

Never one to pass up a “first to review,” I went here on a Tuesday night with a bunch of male co-workers and a couple of female friends. I had organized the trip to the club because I had never been to a bikini bar or strip club before and wanted to check one out. The Gold Club was not what I expected. When I first walked in, I was struck by how empty the place was. I suppose that’s pretty normal for a Tuesday night. The other thing I immediately noticed was the smell. It smelled like old night club in the day, stripped of its nighttime mystique. It was musty but not overwhelming. I contribute it to the carpet that I’m sure predated the The Gold Club to the nightclub that occupied the space prior, the Vault. The girls at the Gold Club are fully clothed and dance with varying degrees of grace on a tiny stage one at a time. The pole they worked was peeling and very used looking, which again I attribute to possibly being a relic from the Vault. The tipping etiquette here is to put your bills on the stage and not touch the dancers or tuck the bills into their clothing (even if offered, which I discovered was frowned upon by the bouncers). I wasn’t impressed by the dancers, who were either listless or totally cumbersome looking on the small stage. I wonder if the higher caliber talent works weekends. Some useful info: there was a cover charge of $20 per person and the drinks were typically priced (expensive). PROTIP: Try to bring girls with you to save a few bucks at the door. The bouncer saw that we had girls in our party and charged less for our cover.

First of all, how does this place stay open??? We have been here twice and it’s dead as a door nail, no customers at all. Only 2 girls were working when we got there at 10:30. The venue is nice and clean and pretty but no girls and no customers makes a no go. This is a full liquor bar and the girls wear pasties. If you’re looking for fun and lots of girls , go to the Pink Poodle.

I’ve only been here once so this was my first impression. I’ve been to a few bikini bars but this was my first strip club. I have to say I was disappointed. The overall look of the club inside was clean, looks open and spacious. It is a nice looking atmosphere. Last time I was in this place it was the club, the Vault. The bathrooms however were atrocious—-trashed, foul odor, urine and toilet paper all over the floor. If you’re a woman, hopefully you can hover and squat real well or else you’re better off finding a different bathroom somewhere else.Moving on…..it was awesome that there was a good mix of women dancing: all different skin colors and body types. Kudos to hiring a diverse group of dancers. But the dancing in general…just not sure if this is the right word but it was very lackluster…it just didn’t seem like anyone was having fun dancing so it made for a dreary atmosphere.I probably won’t be back because of the bartender. Myself and my friend(a woman) walked up to 2 empty chairs at the bar and instead of being chill and saying it’s occupied or something he got pissy and said the dancers are sitting there. First off, there’s plenty of ways you could have worded that and not be a jerk about it, secondly….the dancers are working and don’t they have an employee area to sit in? You’re telling me that those seats are reserved for employees and won’t be given to someone wanting to spend money on drinks….doesn’t make sense.Anyways, we moved and the rest of my group got drinks. We left since we felt unwelcome. I’m happy I didn’t have to pay a cover since I had a free admission ticket. Cover was $20 on a Saturday night. All in all, if you’re looking to do something different than bar hop, try it out but be aware to set your expectations.Edit: originally, I made this a 2 stars review, but bumped it up to 3 stars since someone from the business messaged me. I do appreciate the follow up on their behalf about the bartender I mentioned in my review. It does show a progressive attitude on their part.

  8. winston12

Worst club…. No boobs no nothing… Just a panty bar. $60 for a lap dance? I was in Miami and paid $20 for a lap dance and saw boobs. Terrible. DONT GO HERE.

  9. larry1

No Pale Ales, no IPA’s and did I mention the women wear pasties??? This place sucks, seriously is horrible and you should avoid it.

  10. Audrey L.

I’m not ashamed to admit that as a female, I admire the female body! I have been to the Gold Club in SF (that one is more like 5 stars); this one is 4. The girls are pretty and they have good dance skills! Drinks are normal for a “strip club.” This not full nudity; more like a bikini club. I don’t thin it’s even topless right. Anyway, I came here once with a guy and I had fun. Good times! The only one in downtown SF

  11. james1412

I have been living in San Jose for 20 years and counting, and when I first heard of this place, I had my own doubts at first–would be strip club, unclean setting, etc. After the first trips there, all my doubts flew out the door. The overall setting is nice and casual. Perfect place to go for an end-of-week or end-of-work drink. A few months into my visits here, I didn’t even know it’s housed in a historical building; that turned into a “Aha” moment for me. As for the women here, they are very approachable to make your night more relaxed. When they go on stage, you know they got the dancing talents; when not on stage, they really are nice girls to be around, even if it’s only for a few hours. If you ever have any misconsemptions about a club like this, give it a try one night, and even if you pass by, you’ll be hooked. Whenever I have the means to go out, I’m here.

  12. timmykilla

Not a good spot. $20 to get in. One stage. Because of zoning the dancers can’t get close to you. They also have to wear pasties. Then you get pressured for a private dance for $30. No contact there and a bouncer stood watching the whole time. Basically not worth it and then you get pressured to go to the VIP room for $250 for a half hour.

  13. joseph1k

Came in on a Tuesday, on a whim because manager let us in for free. Bartender was really cool and funny. Dancers were boring, but I guess it’s a Tuesday and It’s not Vegas. First gentlemen’s club I’ve been in, but I feel as if dancers at a regular club would be hotter and more engaging than here.

  14. Franklyn

I guess you could say I’m a gentleman’s club aficionado… Why would anybody want to go to a bar where there’s NO scanty-clad girls? No really, that’s a serious question. If you’re not into TV sports, nasty food or hanging out with drunks, then I suggest girls in bikinis dancing for your pleasure! Alas, I digress. Anyways, this place is clean and comfortable. If you are properly dressed, they always comp the admission. I’ve been there three times in a suit or jacket and never paid cover (take note Man Jose). The drink prices are reasonable. The least attractive girls here are still decent. Security is a little uptight but it’s a small miracle SJ even allowed them to open so I get it. All in all, I feel they’ve raised the bar in San Jose and I’m thrilled to have them in the neighborhood!

  15. harryharry

I don’t usually go to these kinds of places but a friend wanted to check it out.But anyways, beside that, the drinks here are EXPENSIVE. We got in for free but still, the price of those drinks pretty much paid for the entrance fee.The bartender was nice though. He made me drink a little too strong so my friend took it back and he made me a new one, on the house. The place is pretty small, not a lot of chairs to sit on. I’m not sure what this place looks like crowded. It was pretty meh when we got there and it was about 1AM. They did have an upstairs but I think that’s only for the private lap dances or whatever.

  16. maxxy1

One of the worst bars I’ve ever been to. $20 entrance fee is pretty normal I guess, but a $10 service charge at the ATM inside? $12 for a cheap well drink? Very over-priced. The music was so loud it was impossible to talk with the girls and so bad, most of them sat down, sometimes filling two full couches on their own with more standing with them, waiting for something any of them could dance to.To make it worse, the stages are NOT safe for the girls. They’re some cheap plywood, a with an acrylic top and some Home Depot electrical conduit shoddily poking up through the middle. The whole thing looks like it was then spraypainted black with some cheap latex paint. The stages are tiny and there’s barely enough room for them to walk around the pole, let alone dance or extend a leg. And, I mentioned how these stages aren’t safe for the girls, right? They’re not attached to the floor. They are literally held down with two 20 pound sand backs on the inside (I could see in from where I was sitting.. They weren’t made very well and the seams didn’t line up at all.). When girls got on and off the stage, they would regularly shift and tilt. Completely unsuited to the purpose. After that, we have the bar staff. Saying the liquor is watered down is an understatement, so the group I was with, after much disappointment with our varied first round, opted to just get some red wine. The first bottle we ordered was the Cab Sav. I go up to the bar and the guy running it regrets to inform me that they, “haven’t gotten the ‘cab-er-net sav-ig-nawn’ yet” and offers a bottle of their, “mur-lott” instead and them pulls an ice cold bottle out of what could have honestly just been a freezer. We are this close to wine country and they’re trying to fit in with an upscale community in the heart of silicon valley. What the hell guys? The only positive thing I can say about this business is that the building it’s in was beautiful and it can still be seen on the inside, if you look past the walls of flat screen TVs cycling promos for the club you’re already in. We were given a short tour by one of the girls there and I will say the VIP room and Champagne Room seemed much nicer than the rest of the club, but without being able to see most of the girls dance because they didn’t like the music the DJ was trying to force on them and being unable to talk with the ones who did dance because it was just too damn loud to hear, I couldn’t even begin to tell you what it costs to go back there for anything other than a tour. The certainly didn’t do a good job selling it. This place is high dollar but whoever set it up has no idea what they’re doing and I just hope that none of the girls who work there end up getting hurt because they cut corners on stage design. The ones who did get up on one were visibly aware of how unsafe they were in between trying to figure out how to dance with only about 2′ of room to work with.I write this review less for future customers and more for girls considering working here. There are other, safer, better paying clubs in the area. Do not go here.(Edit: Also, I’ve read in the other reviews that entry was cheaper if you brought girls with you. The group I went with was one guy [me] and two of my female friends. We all had to pay $20. No exceptions. Even after chatting up the bouncers outside for half an hour before they opened the doors opening night. Expect no discounts anywhere in this place.)

I had the “pleasure” Of visiting the gold club this saturday evening, and I was extremely disappointed. The ladies themselves were very attractive, but it was not a place where they could even make money because the bar would bleed the patrons dry!!! The only reason I am giving them two stars is because of the music.Lets start off by saying San Jose’s night club is already weak in itself, and I thought Gold club might bring out a new crowd.. however, with a $20.00 cover; I find it hard pressing to think that many people would go there for women dancing in the same amount of clothes a gogo dancer would, when you can go spend $20.00 at the pink poodle and seebutt naked women, ok so then I was thinking, well, I can see why you’d come here, because its a nice venue and you can actually buy booze.I went to the bar and ordered 2 vodka sodas, and almost died when he said $22 for both.. I immediately thought, what do you think this is vegas? No one in san jose is spending $11 for a drink… so then I figured ok, maybe he gave me a higher class vodka, so I asked what kind of vodka he used and was surprised when he pulled out a bottle of cheap ass vodka, that I could buy at safeway for $7.00 I was beyond floored. NO ONE SPENDS $11 on Arubbing alcohol quality WEAKLY poured mixed drink. So i figured maybe he’s just making it up to pocket the extra cash because well, lets face it business was dead- i asked another bartender for another drink a short while later, and to my surprise it was the same over inflated price. There wasn’t even hardly a crowd there, and I contibute that to the high priced drinks. Hell, you can get a well; well poured drink in Santana Row for $7 and the ambience there is far superiror. It was a very awkard social enviorment because it seemed like it was oufitted to be a night club, but yet it was more like a performance venue which made for an uncomfortable feeling that you had to watch, and not socialize.Of the 10 people or so i talked to (two separate groups) both had said they were first time patrons, and both groups said they would not return. The drink prices are just not appropriate for san jose especially with so many more realistic competiors in the vacinity. Good luck with this establishment….

Came here last night on a Tuesday for my birthday. It was my first time at Gold Club and it was really fun. I came with two of my best friends and there was only one or two other people inside. The drink prices are pretty normal for a strip club, so I can’t complain. I didn’t pay for any drinks anyways since it was my bday. We got a seat right in front of the stage since there was no one in there. There were about 4 girls dancing, all beautiful ladies. One of them was her first night on stage and she killed it. All of us had our own girl to talk to since we were the only ones sitting by the stage. I had the pleasure of hanging out with Krystal. She was by far the most skilled dancer and the prettiest of the three girls that sat with us. She was also really cool to talk to. If you go to Gold Club, I’d definitely recommend getting a dance from her. She made my night. Few reasons I wouldn’t give this place 5 stars. Since it’s really close to the courthouse are always getting monitored I guess. They have a red line around the stage where the girls can’t walk past if they’re topless. Also, when the girls go topless they wear pasties which kinda ruins the fun. But either way, the girls are smokin’ hot and fun to hang with. Both of my friends had a really good time.

Giving this place 1 star as their are no half star ratings !!! Went on a Tuesday to kill some time and check this new place out. WOWWWWWWWWWWWW … we definitely picked the night the b-team was working. Girls were out of shape and it was uncomfortable just watching them work it on the stage, with beat up dirty looking poles. Thought the stage was gonna collapse … totally shabby.I guess a world class club does not have any real hiring standards and this place is gonna tank fast. $20 cover and way over priced drinks … WTF. $13 shots and $11 beers gimme a break. To top it off had one of the girls trying to tell me how much to tip the waitress …. “Get outta here!!!” I know how to tip and don’t need someone telling me how much to tip on my first drink.Top shelf drinks on Santana row are cheaper with better atmosphere and prettier women. This was like a visit to a 3rd world country. The stage was worn down and place had a wanna be gangster owner sitting in the middle trying to give the 7 patrons that were actually in there an evil eye, lmao.I will discourage my fellow Silicon Valley Professionals from dropping their hard earned cash on this so called Gentleman’s Club.Truly disappointing.

  20. ryan123

I laughed when I read the review about the dirty martini, yeah that’s pretty bad if a fully stocked bar can’t make a dirty martini I hope you were at least offered discounted drink on the house. but as far as the club writing back saying we cater to gentlemen I am OFFENDED. granted I’m among the minority of lesbians in san jose who probably have gone into that club I still have money to spend and expect to be treated with respect just as a man would, which in my case couldn’t be further from the truth. I went in on a saturday night and spent more money in that place then any of the other men around me from what i could see. I’m not saying i regrettED it,beacuse i have a heart and after all it was more sympathy tips than anything.Don’t get me wrong the clubs appearance is very nice. The waitress/hostess whatever you want to call her did not show me any sort of attention, and as far as the dancers…. No comment. hospitality zero making me feel welcome zero being turned on by dancers zero. Giving me something to do on a Saturday night why not give you one star.

  21. Joey M.

Not worth your money. It’s $20 to get in for a barely topless strip club. I say barely because they have pasties over their nipples. You shouldn’t have a cover charge if it’s barely topless.Drinks are expensive and watered down. The worst part about this place are the lap dances. $60 for two song sands is already outrageous, but to top that off, the girls aren’t even allowed to touch you and you’re not allowed to touch them. You have to sit there, arms at your side while they dance in front of you…. Seriously. You pay $40-$80 to watch them barely dance in front of you, fully clothed. That’s not a fucking lap dance. Oh, here’s the best part, while all that is happening, the owner follows you and stares at you the whole time to make sure there’s no funny business… How fun! Being uncomfortable AND not getting an actual lap dance. Will never return. Never again.

  22. tonycluber

Lana was a Great Dancer very outgoing and relatable. She didn’t even ask me for a dance right away. She took the time to get to know me and I couldn’t help but give in to her sweet personality. If you come here talk to her and perhaps order a cheesecake.

  23. fuckery12

******************************* 923 ******************************* Nothing changed much inside, 2 poles on each side, a few tiny table with black leather chairs, about 15 tables main floor, and 4 couches upstairs for private dance. Main floor doesn’t look cozy at all, plain, spacious, plenty of security guys watching you. Although, they were very nice. You got to pay to get in, what? We got the free passes from Marriott hotel, so we rolled in. At 9 PM on a Friday night, there wasn’t many people there yet. There was about only 7 girls all night, BIKINI only! A private lap dance is $30, WHAT? More expensive than Vegas, wait! It’s MAN-JOSE with new MONEY from these geeky tech guys, no wonder! I hate to say this but my friends, didn’t like any girl that night. They had 2 dances only. And it was a Friday, and that’s supposedly the hottest girls they have?!? Wait, some guys just flashing money shower with $1 bills. That was it? Now the poor dancer had to craw around to pick up the money on the floor, what a cheap a#% guy!? Don’t order bottle of Moët Chandon for $175, by the glass $18, so we ordered 5 glasses (equal a bottle) = $90 Get it!? Why pay $175 for the bottle service? What service? How does it make any sense? I really wish it was a nicer experience, but Gold Club Man-Jose fail us! Maybe give them a few months to settle in!

  24. rogerrab2

Girls were awesome. But my girl and I got kicked out for literally having too much fun. Swear! Rather be at the rail. .. ijs

  25. billtheguy12

Where do I begin… Being from San Francisco, I automatically associated the name to San Francisco’s Gold Club, which is a pretty good Strip Club. Known for its lunch buffets, and pretty girls. I met Jenna Jameson once there. It’s a popular place. I am not sure, they are owned by the same folks… Nor do I believe that if its part of the same company. They are night and day. Lets begin with the actual building. I am going to age myself. I used to go to the Vault night club at the same place. A nice dancer started chatting me up and told me that the building itself is a historical building, and can therefore not be renovated or gutted. Usually every strip club has a main stage, with smaller secondary stages. Your eyes and attention are usually drawn to that main stage. Not this place. I counted 3 stages. two on the front two corners near the front door, and one stage under a horribly placed staircase which sits RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of the building. I do not believe that there is one area of the club where a person can see all 3 stages because of the horrible center staircase. On to the stripper poles… This building is a large building. A total of 3 stories. The main portion of the building is an open floor layout. The poles end at about 10 feet. IT looks like the top of the poles are capped with a plumbing cap. The top of the pole just floats in mid air. Once the dancers begin dancing, You can see the poles aren’t as secure as they could be if they had both ends of the poles secured. The “Main stage”, the night i showed up was one of the corner stages. Most strip clubs have mirrors, good lighting, maybe some cheesy lasers, and smog machines., to enhance the dancers. The walls here are bare, and absolutely not even basic lighting to illuminate the dancers. The dancers were dancing in the dark. We arrived at 9:30 pm, and I asked the hostess how many girls they had dancing. She told me she wasn’t sure. I was with a buddy and two girls. Besides us, there were 2 other men in the place. I then asked the hostess at what time the place picked up, and she told me once the Sharks game let out, it would pick up both with girls, and customers. For the first 30 minutes, we watched exactly 3 girls rotate on one stage. 2 of them were OK looking, but watching them rotate without any variety became boring. One of my girl friends decided she needed another drink so she went up to the bar. I’m assuming the bartender started small talk with her. It was some short Latin bartender, with lines cut into his sideburns. Apparently he thought it would be his chance to impress my friend so he told her he was the owner of the Club. He then proceed to charge her $5.00 for a Coke…. (Probably not the owner). On to the the restrooms. Two unisex restrooms. No stalls, no pisser, just a toilet. Needless to say, piss all over the floor. I can care less, but I can only assume it ain’t really fun for women. Once 11pm came, about 10 more customers had come in and maybe 5 more girls. 2 of the 5 were pretty. one of them was nice and hung out and chatted. Overall rating… 1 out of 10. My belief is that the new renters or leasers came in, put up 10 big screen on the walls, and 2 projectors with cheesy graphics and logos. There is a makeshift DJ booth. They really didn’t invest much money (Or couldn’t invest too much money due to it being a historic building) on rejuvenating the place. The building is tired and needs someone with more money to come in and clean it up. I will not be returning to this place. I really hope this place is not associated with San Francisco’s Gold Club. Oh ya… and the girls wear pasties… no boobies. $20 cover… I guess I can’t complain too much.

  26. justinlk

The fact that there are ANY good reviews is appalling. This is the WORST strip club in San Jose, period. I wouldn’t go again if you paid me. 20 dollar cover charge only to go in and see it packed wall to wall with people, but like 2 dancers??? Not to mention the bartenders suck, the music was crap, and the bouncers walk around “patrolling” like a bunch of fools. Don’t waste your money. You’ll thank me later.
